MEQUON, WI--Following the mixed success of the original Campus Clean-Up Day, Campus Clean-Up II was a smash hit. While the first Campus Clean-Up focused on picking up the litter outside the campus the sequel had a different focus.
Campus Cleanliness Coordinator Tyrone Brandt had this to say about Campus Clean Up II, "The first campus clean up was done by students and achieved only a mixed level of success. For Campus Clean-Up II, we knew we needed pros to do the clean up job, so I called on some old friends of mine. They’re getting a little up there in age, but with so much experience under their belts, I knew they’d do a good job for us."
|
| "You want me to clean up Concordia eh? Ok, I’ll clean up Concordia!"
|
Brandt was speaking of some of his old "business
connections" (shown on this page). These gentlemen became the stars of Campus Clean Up II, scaring hundreds of would-be litterbugs into reform.

Freshman Ruben Walsher says he was about to toss an empty soda can over his shoulder when he was approached by one of these ‘cleaners’. "He was a big guy in a black suit," reported Walsher, "He looked at me and said, ‘Ey! You! Yeah, you! You about to do what I think you about to do?’ Then he grabbed the soda, shoved me up against the wall and stuck his face into mine. ‘Ow ‘bout you start showing this school a yours a little respect eh? S’all about respect. Capeesh?’

A "Cleaner" |
Scared me to death."
Numerous other students gave similar accounts of Campus Clean Up II, but at the end of the day, despite the fact that many students were hiding in their rooms, the campus was substantially cleaner.
