Computer Science Department Voted "Coolest Thing About CUW"
S118B. In a stunning upset, it has been determined that the computer science department at CUW has won the first annual “Coolest Thing About CUW” Contest. The announcement, perhaps coincidentally, coming mere days after The Shadow revealed themselves to actually be 3 computer science students.

The victory by the CS department has caused mixed reactions among students and faculty. “It’s only fair,” said junior computer science major Tom Kappolov. “Everyone knows the computer science students are the smartest around. And then once the campus found out that it was computer science students that were sprinkling the campus with their witty flavor of satire called The Shadow, it was really a no-brainer.” Fellow CS major Michael Nickentny echoed Kappolov’s comments. “Uh, hello? The Shadow were the ones who got President Bush to visit Concordia. The Shadow is run entirely by computer science students. It only logically follows that the computer science department would win this award.” “Plus,” added Kappolov, “computers are just really cool. And what other department lets you play with Legos for a semester project?”

Senior exercise leadership major Brian Rofalski seemed confused by the announcement. “CUW has a computer science department? Wait a minute… what’s a comp-u-ter?” When explained that computers were those little magical boxes that sit on people’s desks and run the world, Brian stared blankly ahead for several minutes. Then he snapped out of it and said, “Hey, wanna go lift with me?”

Many departments on campus feel as though they have been robbed. The theology department had held a 20 point lead in the polls going into the final week. The math department, though never really in the running, is demanding a recount of the votes. “There’s no way they could have made up that much ground in only a week,” said Statistics professor Frank Impoths. Computer science professor Gerald Lipthintuck shrugged off the comment. “All the voting was done electronically, which means the IT department oversaw the voting. There’s no way they could have… oh, wait. Maybe a recount is a good idea after all.”
