Courtyard Collage Donated To Concordia
ART ROOM. An entire collection of lousy, meaningless art was donated to Concordia last week by the Milwaukee Art Museum. “We were cleaning out the storage area and found tons of junk,” said the director of the Art Museum. “I was ready to junk it, but then I received a call from Concordia. They said they had need of more indecipherable monuments to fill their courtyard. They’re going to call it the Courtyard Collage.”

Included in the new collage is a nude wax sculpture of Richard Simmons on a unicycle, a forty foot high steel pole with a cherry on the top, and a huge something or other covered with whatisits.

“It will be nice to be able to look out at the courtyard and see something besides those hideous trees and grass,” said Concordia director of Courtyard Affairs Drew Reede. “Our school is hungry for art. Now people can look out at the wonderful art and scratch their heads for a while. That’s the wonderful thing about modern art—you get to decide what it is.”

“The Richard Simmons on a unicycle represents one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse,” said senior Katherine Newsted, studying the collage intently. “And that big ball thing with the arrow in it… that’s a clown’s nose being pierced by an intruding society. You could sit here all day and look at this stuff. It’s great.”

Many other students disagree. “I liked it how it was without the art,” said sophomore Chris Glenning. “If that stuff out there is art, then I’ll put a sign out there that says: ‘this stuff is junk’ and that will be art too.”
