Promise That 'This Class Will Be Fun' Broken On First Day
Concordia. A promise to a class of transfer students that “this class will be fun”, was broken five minutes after it was made. Professor Pamela Pirkins, who teaches LA106: Transferring to Concordia, says she only made the promise because she thought she could carry it out, but soon learned that her class was determined to have a bad time.

“This class will be fun, I promise you. That’s what I told them. And I tried to make it fun. I said, ‘Why don’t we play a fun little game to get to know each other,’ but my students unanimously refused to play. If people don’t want to have fun, you can’t force them, even when a grade is involved.”

Transfer student Roger Melckhardt says he was duped into taking the class and immediately realized his mistake when he entered the room and saw Professor Pirkins. “She looked like the type of person who really strives to make people enjoy school,” Melckhardt said. “That’s just wrong. School is not something to be enjoyed. I refuse to allow this class to be fun.”

“LA 106 is a blow off class, everyone knows that,” disagreed transfer student Theresa Pendell. “It’s supposed to be fun. But with Professor Perky resorting to stupid gimmicks and contrived games, I don’t see how it could be enjoyable.”

“I tried to have fun, I really did,” transfer student Brianna Garthworthy said, “but I fell asleep. Something about the teacher’s voice. She sounded kind of like a news anchor on TV, and, well, that’s usually what I fall asleep to. Also, I was really tired that day because I stayed up late talking with my mom.”
